01 Line Guide Sashiko
A stencil for Sashiko hand stitching, the visible mending technique.
This design is a guide to help you quickly draw your straight lines, horizontal and vertical. Making a grid is the basis for many pattern variations. Draw your grid and then use a simple running stitch in Sashiko style. Lines have a 5mm gap between them.
To apply the design to your fabric use a heat erasable pen to draw the lines, or heat erasable cream for quicker application. Just iron to remove marks when finished. Our stencils are reusable, durable, washable and easy to store.
Size:13 x 13cm stencil with 12 x 12cm stitching pattern. Images show how the design can be used in different ways. Combine with our other Sashiko stencils to create intricate designs.
Use our stencils to create patches, or decorate and repair garments and accessories with Sashiko stitching. Be inspired by the Japanese boro visible mending technique which uses fabric remnants to mend and repair. Boro patches are a testament to sustainability, re-use and recycle.
We design and cut all our stencils in our UK workshop in Wiltshire. Our stencils are cut from recyclable 250 Mylar stencil film. This is a flexible, sturdy, non adhesive sheet. It is solvent proof and food safe. If simple care is taken, the stencils can be used countless times.
